Most of the fruits and vegetables have a natural product called sucrose which is also found in high concentration in sugarcane and sugar beet. Table sugar is another name for sucrose. According to studies we consume 20% sucrose of our daily food intake. Because of high complex nature of sucrose carbohydrate, sucrose metabolism is necessary to fight the danger to our body.
Sucrose has the notoriety of causing renal failure in humans and rats. Renal cells are incapable of processing sucrose through metabolism, in its original form. On account of this there is severe retention of water. Sucrose must be converted in to glucose and fructose by hydrolysis before it is absorbed by the small intestines.
While sugars release energy for the body, sucrose metabolism should take place before the release of energy. High sucrose diets cause diabetes because of the bodys inability to metabolize large quantities of sugar. Insulin is generated in the body for sucrose metabolism, breaking the sugar down in to small parts useful for producing energy. When large quantities of sugar are consumed, the body loses the ability to pump in enough insulin to handle or manage it over a long period. This may result in severe damage to liver and pancreas.
Negative effects on the Body
Sucrose is rich in empty calories sans essential minerals and vitamins. Roughly 300gms of glucose a day, used for energy, is metabolized by the body usually. A boost in the consumption of sucrose results in a number of negative health problems. Absence of sucrose metabolism produces acid levels in the mouth leading to tooth decay. The adrenal glands, subjected to stress, raise the level of adrenalin. As a result hyper activity, head ache and mood swing are caused. Too much of sugar changes to saturated fats increasing triglyceride levels in the blood stream. It triggers high cholesterol levels also leading to cardiovascular disease.
Sugars in the form of fluid and fat are stored in the body in the absence of sucrose metabolism. This results in weight gain and obesity, one of the top concerns of health today. Severe fatness may cause premature aging and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Taking in too much of sucrose can cause acme and reduced immune system function. Many required vitamins and nutrients may be depleted by refined sugars and the bodys health may be affected.
