All of us have a fixed idea about the ageing people. We may not be really harsh to old people but as always pose them as pathetic and dependent. We say this even to our close ones. We always say that they are not the same as they used to be before and that they are weak physically and mentally.

Such talk may be not harmful but repetitive comments may give an impact that the old people cannot function as they were when they were young. Psychology says it is the way we start thinking about them which portray our actions and the way treat them. Research says that such imaginative thinking by us lead to such conditions where they are not as weak and feeble as we think.

Aging With An Active Mind

From a very long time research is still going on about the human mind how and why it ages. Many theories explain that mind also age as the body ages. Experts also say that the intellectual part starts to disintegrate that the mind loses its sharpness. So, mind like our other muscles of our body has to be exercised regularly and kept active to grow and stay stronger.

Keeping oneself mentally and intellectually active at old age is very important to remain young in mind. We ourselves reduce our activities and put limitations to it. We stop meeting or interacting with friends and pals as we grow older who had been great fun and supportive in our young age.

Hence due to our limited activities our active mind tends to lose the sharpness we usually had in our young age. Although the biological changes may create a tendency to affect our thoughts but research says that an active mind can always remain young in spite of old age.

Research also says that too much of data and information stored in our brain tends to reduce the mental sharpness. Psychology also says that our mind is like a computer which stores data in its memory. But too much of it makes our mind congested that its speed begins to deteriorate. And due to excessive clogging the brain finds it difficult to get the information immediately.
